Science Giants: Franklin Chang-Díaz

On this day in 1950, Franklin Chang-Díaz was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. He moved to the United States when he was 18, and even though he couldn't speak English when he arrived, he worked hard to study to become an astronaut. He has spent more than 1,000 hours in space and has worked on the space station.
