Science Giants: Galileo Galilei
On this day in 1564, Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy. Galileo discovered many important laws of physics. He perfected the telescope and was the first to use it for astronomy. Using his telescope, he discovered the satellites of Jupiter, sunspots, and craters of the moon. In addition to his inventions and discoveries, Galileo is known for finding evidence for Copernicus' theory that the Earth revolves around the sun.
