Science Giants: Dian Fossey

On January 16, 1932, Dian Fossey was born in San Francisco, California. She became interested in mountain gorillas during a trip to Africa and decided to spend her life studying gorilla families. Fossey fought hard to protect the mountain gorillas and their habitat from hunters, farmers and others who could harm them. She described her adventures with the gorillas and the people of Rwanda, Africa in a book called Gorillas in the Mist.
