Eight-year-old Girl Receives Patent for Better Baby Care
On this day in 1994, eight-year-old Chelsea Lanmon received her first patent. She created her invention, the Pocket Diaper, because she wanted an easier way to carry the items needed to change her baby brother's diaper. A disposable pocket sticks to the outside of the diaper and contains a baby wipe and a powder puff. Lanmon has continued to create other inventions, noting, "Most inventions are really simple and anyone can think of them, but it's the most fun when you think of them firstjust try it!"
