Digging in the Soil: Animals Lab

Animals that live in the soil may feed on decaying matter or on other animals. As the animals move about, they create a fertile soil by digging into the soil and mixing humus with weathered rock.

Many kinds of animals live in the soil. Worms, centipedes, millipedes, crustaceans, insects, and arachnids may spend at least part of their lives in the soil.
