What happens if you toss a ball up in the air?
The ball goes up, slows down, stops, and then falls back down. Describing what happens is simple, but how do you explain it?
Gravity is the force that pulls the ball back down. You supplied the energy to overcome gravity when you threw the ball into the air. But why did the ball stop before it started falling back down?
