Astronauts walking on the moon actually leap and bound. The astronauts can do this because the force of gravity on the moon is about one-sixth the force of gravity on Earth. This means that an object on the moon weighs only one-sixth as much as it does on Earth.

Astronauts, even in their bulky space suits, can take advantage of the reduced gravity to move in ways that would be impossible on Earth.
