If you wanted to see the shipwrecked Titanic for yourself, how would you get there? You couldn't use scuba equipment because the wreck is too deep! You wouldn't survive the pressure of all that water on top of you.

You would have to use a special deep-sea machine called a bathysphere, or submersible. It would be like riding in a small submarine. The diagram above shows a bathysphere named Alvin. Alvin was used to locate the Titanic.
