A common sight in the jungles of Central and South America is a trail of ants. Each ant is carrying a small piece of a leaf or flower. When an ant reaches its mound, it disappears into its home with its load.

The ants take the pieces of plant into their mound, but they don't eat it. They place it in warm, moist chambers where fungus grows on it.
